Our first official vacation day - We flew from Madrid to Palermo, Sicily. We rented a car and headed straight to Trapani. A fantastic beach town in the upper west corner of the island.
Mike booked us in a beautiful hotel right on the ocean.
We had time to kill before we could check in so we started our quest to discover the best pizza. We found a highly rated bakery but they didn’t have tables so we ate in the car. Which was a little pathetic but still delicious.
Then we toured the Pepoli Art museum
which had a special exhibit about Nunzio Nali - This guy…
I’m not quite sure who he was (other than a famous Trapani-an) but his mustache is incredible and His expression in this sculpture made me laugh.
Once we could check in we got our bathing suits on and hung out on the beach. Mike had his favorite new drink - The Aperol Spritz.
We brought our old friend Rick Steves with us. (I know, silly to still carry a guidebook but he’s got the best info and there’s something comforting about it) so we headed into town to do his recommended walk through Trapani.
Which led to a lovely dinner at Ristorante Grilli. And this nice photo of Mike…
And this one from our hotel terrace.
